How to clean and disinfect plant pots & why is it necessary?

Have you ever thought about cleaning your plant pots or do you also only focus on cleaning your garden only? We know it could be a tricky thing to do but plant pots if not cleaned regularly might get infected. Mineral deposits and other debris may build up in pots, whether they are made of clay or plastic, and they may host disease-causing organisms and harm your plants. Every time you use an old pot, make sure to clean and sanitize it. Mineral salts may be unattractive as well as harmful to plants. Clay pots that have salts leaching through them develop a white coating on the outside, which some gardeners find ugly. Both clay and plastic container rims can develop salt deposits. Plant stems lying there might become dehydrated due to salt accumulation on container rims.

How to clean infected pots?

Pots should be cleaned by soaking them for at least 10 minutes in a solution of 1 part household bleach to 9 parts water. Pots should then be placed in a water and dish detergent solution. Use steel wool or a wire-bristle brush to clean clay pots by removing mineral buildup and other dirt. This won’t take much of your time but make sure you keep doing it once in a while.

If any mineral deposits are still there, scrape them off with a knife. Before using, give pots a good rinse and let them soak in a bucket of fresh water. Dry clay containers may suck moisture from the soil, drying out newly planted plants. Cleaning plastic pots is simpler because all you need is a scouring pad. The residual mineral salts can be removed with a knife. Use steel wool to round off any sharp edges. The pot may be reused after a thorough cleaning.

How to make pots look clean?

There are multiple ways you can make your pots look clean after disinfecting them properly. Use the following methods they are handy and attractive
